Tim Guppy

Senior Principal

Tim began his professional career with Pengillys in 1975 and qualified as a solicitor in 1984, having had his dream of being a professional footballer shattered.

He is a conscientious practitioner who always seeks to resolve matters without reference to the Court but otherwise uses the full range of the Court’s powers to achieve the appropriate but hopefully negotiated and consensual settlement.

Tim was appointed as a Deputy District Judge in 2000. Tim is a member of Resolution (formerly the Solicitors Family Law Association) and an accredited Collaborative specialist helping to lead the North and West Dorset Group.

Although Tim concentrates on family work, particularly finances, he also undertakes some civil litigation and has a penchant for partnership disputes.

Tim remains a keen sportsman but has recently retired from football. He is an enthusiastic member of Dorchester Town Tennis Club, a qualified Day Skipper and a season ticket holder for Bath Rugby. When not watching sport Tim spends time with his family and enjoys listening to an eclectic choice of music.
