Matthew commenced his training contract with Pengillys in September 2009 having obtained a commendation on the Legal Practice Course from UWE in Bristol as well as a 2:1 LLB Hons from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth.

Born in Dorchester, Matthew was keen to train in the local area and looks forward to practicing in West Dorset.

A keen sportsman, Matthew plays for local cricket side Martinstown whom he expects to face a strong challenge next season after this years promotion!  He is also a footballer playing for local side Kangaroos, although his support for Dorchester Town may well cause a few conflicts of interest within the firm.  Matthew also spends his free time cycling in the surrounding area.

Matthew's first seat will be non-contentious, in the probate and property departments.
