Mediation To Be Extended

Currently if considering issuing a case in the county court, there is an expectation that mediation is at least considered and, preferably used.  A referral to mediation can also be made during the court process.

Government proposals announced earlier this year include an automatic referral of all cases below the Small Claims limit (currently  £5,000) to mediation.

John Walkington, Principal of Pengillys, and accredited Mediator, says:  “Increasingly people are discovering that in mediation they can concentrate on issues that really matter to them.  They find that the mediation process offers a refreshing contrast to the worries about risk, cost and delay that can be present in court proceedings”.

The Mediation Team at Pengillys has, for a number of years, been assisting families to find solutions to their problem at mediation.  John Walkington has recently also become an accredited Mediator further to which, Pengillys also offers mediation in a wide range of civil disputes such as money claims, contractual disputes, neighbour disputes, housing disputes and employment disputes.
