The Olympics and Paralympics
On the 12th – 14th July the Olympic Torch passes through Dorset and the route is both in Weymouth and Poundbury, Dorchester.
The London 2012 Olympic Games begin on the 27th July and the sailing events begin in Weymouth Bay on the 29th July until the 11th August.
The Paralympics begin the 29th August with the sailing taking place between the 1st September until the 6th September.
The sailing events may reduce access to Weymouth and we would ask all of our clients to bear this in mind if they need to see us during this time. Please contact us if alternate appointment arrangements need to be considered.
In particular you should bear in mind that parking will be extremely limited and it is anticipated that there will be a significant increase in traffic. There are numerous park and ride sites and everyone attending the Borough is encouraged wherever possible to use public transport. The car parks open to the public during the Olympics will be Melcombe Regis (by the Bowling Green), Harbourside (opposite Debenhams) and the multi-storey. Park Street car park will be taxis, disabled and Mobility only.
Pengillys are delighted to support Weymouth and Portland Borough Council and Dorset County Council and are delighted that the Borough has been selected to host this prestigious event. We wish Team GB every success in striking gold during the Games.
Court Hearings
We are also aware that the Weymouth Combined Court has limited sittings (none 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th and 10th August) and urgent hearings need to be organised through the Bournemouth Combined Court.
