Having grown up in Dorchester, Matt ventured off to University in Aberystwyth and Bristol before returning to Dorset to start his legal career.
Matt qualified as a solicitor with Pengillys in 2011 and became a Principal in April 2015. He specialises in property work, both commercial and residential for private individuals, developers and property companies.
Whilst transactional work comprises the bulk of Matt’s caseload he also carries out leasehold extensions, right to manage/enfranchise, declarations of trust and general non-contentious property matters.
Matt acts for a large local developer alongside local commercial landlords and developers. He also acts on acquisitions of pubs and restaurants.
He has a wide range of local knowledge and connections and is keen to use the latest technology to speed up transactions wherever possible.
In Summer 2025 Matt obtained his faculty as a Notary Public having studied at UCL for two years, his practice is available to clients out of the Poundbury office – more details here
Outside of the office Matt is Chair at Martinstown Cricket Club and continues to play although Matt’s two young sons take up most of his spare time, meaning games are few and far between!
