Will joined Pengillys in September 2022 beginning his career with us by undertaking a paralegal apprenticeship after completing his A-Levels in the summer. He successfully qualified in September 2024, achieving a distinction whilst doing so and becoming a qualified CILEx Paralegal.
This enabled Will to enrol onto the solicitor apprenticeship with BPP University which will see him complete an LLB degree and take the SQE exams in order to be admitted as a solicitor. He is due to qualify as a solicitor in the summer of 2029.
Will works in the property and conveyancing department and is based in our Poundbury office. He will undertake a variety of work to ensure he will have a depth of experience by the time he qualifies as a solicitor. Will is supervised by Tom Cleall, who is a Principal and Solicitor based in our Poundbury office. Tom has trained Will up from a junior assistant to managing his own caseload for clients. Tom maintains overall supervision for Will, but allows Will to develop his own skills and capabilities.
Will has dealt with various non-transactional matters such adverse possession claims for clients where they are seeking to formalise their ownership in land which has historically been left vacant by the owner or where historic transfers accidentally omitted parcels of land which resulted in sections of a property being left without clear ownership. If you have some land which does not form part of your registered title that you believe should be, Will can offer guidance and advice on whether an application for ownership is feasible. Will has also dealt with first registrations for clients, so if your property is currently unregistered, Will can assist with preparing an application for first registration to ensure your proof of ownership is registered electronically with the Land Registry and benefits from the benefit of a state guarantee against fraud.
