Children
Although most separating
couples are able to agree future arrangements for their children
between themselves, it is not unusual for there to be disputes, which
can often be extremely distressing and upsetting. Couples, whether
married or unmarried, are encouraged to resolve differences without
resorting to Court proceedings.
It is our policy to promote a
non-confrontational approach. However, if difficulties persist, we can
advise you as to other options, such as mediation and, if necessary, a
formal application to the Court. Even if this last step becomes
necessary, the procedure is geared towards trying to help parents reach
agreement themselves.
All members of our Family Department
regularly deal with issues affecting parents and children, and Chris
Lousley and John Walkington are members of the specialist Law Society's
Children Panel.
